Hugely innovative and widely known for his organic figural studies in cast bronze, Henry Moore has amazed us once again with this stunning Standing Mother & Child. Two heads emerge from a pool of flowing bronze, tinged with teal highlights and dark brown lowlights. The larger of the two, presumably the Mother, holds her child in her right arm with her left arm crossed before her for added support; this is echoed in the subtle bronze curve that cuts across the form in a horizontal, three-dimensional line. The entire sculpture has been mounted onto its base, featuring the hand-written inscription (underneath): ‘Standing M & C’ in blue ink. PROVENANCE: ~ From the Private Collection of Michael Jones Catalogue Raisonné & COA:This Henry Moore sculpture is fully documented and referenced in the below catalogue raisonnés and texts (copies will be enclosed as added documentation with the invoices that will accompany the final sale of the work): 1. Bowness, Alan (ed.) Henry Moore, Sculpture and Drawings, Vol. 5 Sculpture 1974 – 1980. Lund Humphries: London, 1994. Listed and illustrated as catalogue raisonné no. 683. Who is Masterworks Fine Art?
