Description
Beautiful Original Oil Painting by Edna Hibel   100% AUTHENTIC!!! WE ARE A REPUTABLE SELLER ON EBAY WITH 100% FEEDBACK. WE HAVE MANY OF HER ART PIECES THAT WE WILL BE LISTING AS SHE WAS FRIENDS WITH A FAMILY MEMBER. "The Flautist," was created during the late 1960s by Edna Hibel in her Brookline, Massachusetts, home studio.  She used oil paints and a fresco technique on a wood panel.  The painting appears to be in its original framing created, also in her home, by the artist's husband, Theodore. This is a gorgeous and unique painting with many textures and variations of colors and hand carved wooded frame and carved facial features. Edna Hibel was born in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1917. Edna is an internationally renowned artist best known for her sensitive portrayals of women and children from all cultures. Her art can be found in many of America’s most outstanding universities and public museums. Exhibitions of her work can also be found in major museums and galleries throughout the world. Edna Hibel graduated from the Boston Museum School of Fine Arts in 1939 and in 1940 the Boston Museum of Fine Arts purchased one of her paintings for its permanent collection, making Edna the youngest artist at the time to be so honored by a major American museum. A lifelong student of art, she uses the mediums of oil painting, drawing, lithography, serigraphy, etching, and sculpture in bronze, crystal, and porcelain to create her exquisite creations. Edna has been exhibited in prestigious museums and galleries all over the world under the royal patronage of Count and Countess Bernadotte of Germany, Count Thor Bonde of Sweden, Prince and the late Princess Rainier of Monaco and Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of England. In her nearly 8 decades as an artist, Edna has received many awards including the Leonardo da Vinci World Award of Arts, the Lifetime Achievement Award from “Women in the Visual Arts,” the Ruth B. Sturtevant Traveling Fellowship for study and painting in Mexico, and many humanitarian honors for her more than one half century in raising donations for children’s and medical charities as well as medals of honor from Pope John Paul II and the late Belgian King Baudouin. She is the only living American woman to have a non-profit public museum dedicated to her art.   This piece is mounted on wood with a wood backing.
