Early 1800s FRENCH oil JEAN VICTOR BERTIN landscape A++ Start Price USD 26,500.00 Current Price USD 26,500.00 Time Left 15 days 10 hours 51 minutes Bid Count 0 Buy It Now Price - Reserve Price - Start Time Friday, September 26, 2008 End Time Saturday, January 24, 2009 Location clev OH See more about 'Early 1800s FRENCH oil JEAN VICTOR BERTIN landscape A++' Description This is an authentic original OIL PAINTING purchased in Paris during the 1980s.   It is identified as Jean Victor Bertin and there is an indication that it was signed on the back before it was re-lined.   It was sold at Hotel Druout in Paris with attribution to Bertin.    Jean Victor Bertin is, of course, a major 19th century French artist with numerous paintings in the Louvre as well as New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Cleveland Museum of Art and many other major museums.    There have been shows that feature his pieces and there is literature about his work.       I don't know exactly what the location of the painting is but assume it is probably Fountainbleau since these woods are characteristic of much that Bertin did.    Since attribution is obviously a major concern for the kind of price that Bertin commands, although the painting is in Cleveland right now, I travel regularly to New York and could bring it to show to a serious buyer.    However, we would need to discuss price so that I have substantial reason to believe that we could make a deal before taking the time and trouble to package this and bring it to New York or elsewhere within some reasonable disatance of New York.      Other arrangements might also be made for other locations.      I am open to some price negotiation, of course.      Interested persons are invited to email me with contact info for further detail and discussion.
