Gold leaf 24k is used for the gold places.  This icon theme was first painted in Chios island by orthodox monks during 1901. The auction icon is a smaller recreation icon painted in 2004 by the Greek painter Anastasiou Despina (my mother). Mrs Anastasiou has spent her life exploring, studying and teaching in the later twenty years, religion and traditional Greek painting art. Pieces of her work live in many byzantine church restorations in Cyclades islands.
