Increase Sales by 18% and double your hits - Vendio Gallery The exceptional detail and superb brown patina combine to make this rare 1906 bronze an invaluable sculpture. Charles Henry Humphriss (1867-1934), a New York sculptor, specialized in Native American Indian subject matter. Like Charles Russell, he dignified the American Indian and his sculptures reflected that respect. “Appeal to the Great Spirit” is one such bronze which shows the spiritual nature of the Indian and his stunning plead for peace and understanding. Where he worked with both the Roman Bronze Works of New York and Gorham Co. Founders of Rhode Island, this particular bronze was cast by the Gorham Foundries. Marked “C.H. Humphriss 1906” and “Gorham Co. Founders”, this original bronze is in excellent condition. The bronze stands approximately 30.8” high, and is approximately 18.4” wide finger to finger. The base is approximately 12.4” x 9”. This item can be viewed by appointment in Platteville, Colorado (approximately 45 minutes from Denver International Airport).
